Married to my husband for over 33 years, with two sons, and finally a female dog (Dolly), I have been known to tell people I used to feel like I live in a fraternity! Even our previous dogs were male. Finallywe have another chick in the house!
When I’m not at the foot of one of my embroidery machines I make sure to get my “girl time” via my bridge games, time with a prayer partner, walking with friends (of course with our dogs whenever possible) and meeting up for coffee (really that means iced tea for me) with my gal pals, sometimes at the lakefront other times a local coffee shop. Recently I have resurfaced my needlepoint canvases that have been sitting in a closet for years. A dangerous thing!
From early childhood, I have always dabbled in some sort of hands on creative genre. I went through the stages of scrap-booking, stamping, knitting, needlepointing, beading, sewing, painting, jewelry making and on and on. I am not an artist but just love playing with different mediums to see what ends up to be the final result! For some reason embroidery just stuck. I think it’s because I get to work with people one on one and create something just for them.
When I was in the wholesale shoe business (YEARS ago!) I always thought you could get a glimpse into someone’s personality by the shoes they wore. Now I say you can get a glimpse into someone’s personality by the monogram they choose and I am having a ball getting to know everyone I work with a little better!
