College For The First Time!

It doesn’t feel like summer has started and already kids are headed back to school! It’s been so much fun having a small part in the many students heading to college for the first time. I can remember back when we dropped our kids off for freshman year. It’s a range of emotions from being nervous to totally thrilled for their past achievements and future potential!

Every now and then I find myself having a heart to heart chat with a mom sending her first kid off to college when she comes to pick up their monogrammed towels. We share a few laughs as well as a few tears talking about the upcoming departure. It may sound odd, but I feel lucky to have a small part of stitching a bit of calm and love into their towels, bed linens, laundry bags, DOPP kits, tote bags and so on. It’s really an honor to have a VERY VERY TINY part in their send off.

I always say its our job to have them spread their wings to take flight, but I never said it’s easy when they actually leave home. So here’s to all those parents and kids embarking on this first year of college. May they all feel confident and loved.
